Description

Ganesha (Ganpati) the elephant- headed god, son of Shiva and Parvati, is popularly worshipped deity in all the parts of India. He is invoked at the beginning of prayers, important undertakings, and religious ceremonies. He is believed to grant success, prosperity and protection against adversity.
Here, the four armed Ganesha is depicted carrying fruit in his lower right hand. While his upper right hand is in abhayamudra. He holds trident in his upper left hand and perhaps modaka in his lower left hand. His elephantine ears, trunks are elaborately shown. His forehead is decorated with auspicious marks. He is wearing various ornaments like necklaces, wristlets and anklet. He is also wearing a yajnopavita. His mount mushaka (mouse) is visible standing besides him on the pedestal.
