Oddiyanam
Description
Delicately sitting on its wearer, the waist band sways as she walks. Though no longer a favoured ornament, we see it in all the early Indian sculpture depicted sitting on the slender waist. Known variously as kamarband or kamarpatta or mekhala, they are usually made in gold or silver. They can be thick as a belt or thin as a chain with trinkets adorning it.
