Description

Panchayatan comes from the Sanskrit word pancha – ‘five’ and aayatana – ‘altar’. panchaytana is the system of worship which consists of the worship of five deities- Shiva, Vishnu, Surya, Goddess-Adi Shakti and Ganesha. Depending on the tradition followed by Smarta households, one of these deities is kept in the center and the other four surround it. Worship is offered to all the deities.
Floral patterned metal plate with lotus pattern in the centre. Surrounding it are depicted different images of Shivalinga, snakes, flowers, Nandi- the mount of Shiva and other deities.
