THREE DIMENSIONS OF DIVINTY: Thanjavur Art Revealed

January 11 - June 30

THREE-DIMENSIONS-OF-DIVINTY-event

THREE DIMENSIONS OF DIVINITY: Thanjavur Art Revealed, an exhibition on the newly acquired collection of Thanjavur paintings celebrates three aspects- the Collector, the Collection and the Conservation process. In 2019, Late Kuldip Singh, a Delhi-based architect and an ardent collector bequeathed his significant collection of 350 Thanjavur and Mysuru paintings to CSMVS. The exhibition uncovers the Thanjavur art form through works depicting deities, epics, temples layouts, portraits of kings, religious leaders tracing the cultural evolution of the region, and finally, through glass and calendar art, presents the modern iterations of Thanjavur art.

These artworks have been conserved by the CSMVS Art Conservation Centre, and their unique, richly detailed three-dimensional layered technique is highlighted in this exhibition which is supported by Citi-India as part of ConservArte: Citi-CSMVS Art Conservation Project, a flagship program of CSMVS.

Curated by Vandana Prapanna, Mrinalini Pathak and Anupam Sah and designed by TWO, a Mumbai based design studio.

This exhibition is supported by Citi-India under the aegis of ConservArte: Citi-CSMVS Art Conservation Project.
