Aiyanar, his consorts and Karuppan
Description
Aiyanar is a protective deity of villages. The painting depicts Aiyanar riding a white elephant flanked by his consorts Purnai and Putkalai. He performs this task along with his general Karuppan shown here riding a horse. Eventually, Aiyanar was considered the son of Shiva in South Indian tradition.
