Description

The state of Gujarat is especially famous for its bead furnishing .Artisans were involved in bead making since ancient times. In the 19th century , Bania traders from Kutch and Saurashtra based in Zanzibar were engaged in the trade with East Africa . One of the main items of Import from East Africa was Venetian Murano beads. People preferred these beads to create the household and decorative and furnishing items. This age old craft of bead work is a living tradition that continues till today in Western India.
