Bone Apron
Description
This ethnographic object is an apron embellished with figures carved in human bone. It was worn on ceremonial occasions and is Tibetan in origin. The significance of wearing such ornamentation symbolizes one’s own mortality, and the necessity of
detachment from the physicality of our human bodies, in order to pursue enlightenment effectively.
