Chandanhaar
Description
This silver necklace from Rajasthan with local folk influences from rural communities speak of the beautiful amalgamation with classical designs. The green and red glasses could be cheaper replacement of emerald and rubies that were favourites of the rich. The triangular and rectangular lockets are joined with chain (sankhal) of flower links (chinka) interspresed with gilded flower lockets. At the end is a beautiful capsule locket or amulet container (madaliya) with peacock and leaf design. It may be used to store letter, dried flower or any form of memory. However, such containers mostly stored amulets or blessings drawn on papers to ward off evil.
