Hayagriva with His Consort, Lakshmi
Description
The horse-headed Hayagriva is considered an important incarnation of Vishnu. Reputed to be the dispeller of darkness (tamas), he is associated with knowledge and wisdom. As Brahma started to create the universe, two demons, Madhu and Kaitabha, stole the Vedas. Vishnu manifested himself as Hayagriva and retrieved the Vedas.
