Infant’s bedspread
Description
Markandeya Purana mentions that at the time of the Mahapralaya(deluge),Lord Vishnu slept on the waters of the sea on a ficus leaf in the form of infant Krishna known as Vatapatrashayi. This symbolizes the first sign of life on earth after the deluge. Therefore it is a tradition in India to make baby breadspreads in the shape of a ficus leaf to celebrate new life.
