Mekhala Chador
Description
The present textile is part of mekhala chador which is a traditional two-piece fabric worn by Assamese women.
The designs on the mekhala chadors are traditionally woven and not printed. A woven pattern called pari is stitched along the sides of the chador. The ground of mekhala generally have floral motifs known as phul.
