Namakarana of Rama and his brothers
Description
According to the epic Ramayana, King Dasharatha was blessed with four sons – Rama (an incarnation of Vishnu), Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. On the thirteenth day, Dasharatha performed the naming ceremony (namakarana) of the four princes on the directions of sage Vashistha, as depicted in the painting.
राजा दशरथ के चार पुत्रों – राम (विष्णु के अवतार), लक्ष्मण, भरत और शत्रुघ्न - का नामकरण गुरु वशिष्ठ के मार्गदर्शन में पुत्रों के जन्म के तेरहवें दिन किया गया था। उसी अवसर की एक मोहक प्रस्तुति इस चित्र में है।
