Serfoji II Bhonsale (r. 1797–1833) the ruler of Thanjavur is seated on a canopied throne. The view of the vimana of the Brihadeshwara temple is seen from the narrow door opening onto a balcony. The Thanjavur Royal family were and still are, trustees of the Brihadeshwara temple.
