Yagneshwar Shukla was a student of Sir J. J. School of Art, Bombay (Mumbai). There he imbibed lessons of painting in Revivalist school under the tutelage of the famous artist of Bombay Revivalism; Jagannath Murlidhar Ahiwasi (1901-1973).

The Revivalist school was encouraged in Bombay by the then Principle of the Sir J. J. School of Art: W. E. Gladstone Solomon in the decade of 1930
