Toran (door hanging)
Description
The term toran stands for a sacred gateway in Indian architecture. Torans are used to decorate the main entrance of the house to welcome the goddess of wealth Lakshmi and also to ward of evils. In Rajasthan and Gujrat , torans made of bead , abla bharat and sheesha are very common . The dazzling surface of sheesha is considered to deflect the evil eye.
