This series of the Museum publication aims to share this extraordinary repository with the world. This series was initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India under the Museum Reforms programme. It is produced in collaboration with the National Culture Fund, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and was jointly published by Niyogi Books, New Delhi in 2014. This volume is a compilation of the selected treasures of the CSMVS from different sections of its collections is categorised primarily into three sections: Art, Archaeology, and Natural History from a world-class collection of approximately 70,000 art objects. The Museum has fine and rare collections featuring ancient Indus Valley artefacts, relics from the Maurya and Gupta period, a significant collection of miniature paintings, decorative arts, samples of Indian jewellery, objects in silver, enamelled jars and huqqa stands as well as of European paintings.
